    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This enormous fleet of trailer trucks, converted to buses, hauled Hanford Engneer Works employees to all areas of the 600-square mile plant, which divided into three large manufacturing areas, each of which was subdivided into sections several miles square. Du Pont designed, built and operated the tremendous plant at Hanford, Wash., during World War II, and it was here that one of the essential materials for atomic bombs, a new chemical element called plutonium, was mass produced for the first time. It was one of the greatest single industrial accomplishments in the history of the world.<br />
